Since 1970, in Sharjah were carried out archaeological excavations, archaeologists have come here from all over the world.
Their findings exhibited in the Archaeological Museum Sharjah. The oldest archaeological finds of 7000 years, in those days was a swampy area in Sharjah, which was inhabited by fishermen. His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, (Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi), Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attaches special importance to science and culture, as well as the development of relevant institutions. This was reflected in his quest to build a new archaeological museum in Sharjah, to keep the rich historical information about the forefathers, to make room teaching children the customs and traditions, once again to prove the right of Sharjah for the title “Capital of Arab Culture.” His Highness wished to archaeological artifacts have been exhibited in more artistic, creative style to avoid monotony, combining the traditional with the modern way to display the science and technology.
To date, the Sharjah Archaeological Museum is one of the best in the world.
Infrastructure of the museum
The exhibits displayed in chronological order, starting with the earlier findings to the heyday of Islam.
Among the exhibits are items of everyday life of ancient coins, jewelry, pottery, ancient weapons and other archaeological finds made in the region. You can also view the model homes of different ages, horse tombs and other structures.
Exhibition halls are equipped with computer systems make it easy to find information about various subjects and give children the opportunity to study the past in the game.
In addition, visitors can watch 7 movies in Arabic and English about the historical events of the past on the big screen.
